As I continue to transition the catering information from EZBoard to the regular message boards, I am making certain that I bring over all of the comments made by you and your fellow corporate flight attendants. It isn’t simply important to list catering contact information, rather your personal experiences with using a caterer helps others determine whether to use that particular caterer or not.

Naturally, the more detailed the information you are able to provide, the better for everyone. Yes, I moved over comments that were as little as one line in length as well as those comments that were several paragraphs long. I am grateful for anything shared as your words “add value” to the site whether you were satisfied with the catering experience or not.

If you would like to add your comments, then simply hit the “reply” button to any given message and add yours. Some things to consider adding include:

What type of meal service did you receive? Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, etc.

Was the order correct? Enough food for all, you received exactly what you ordered or not, etc.

Did the food arrive on time and did it meet your expectations? Presentation, portions, etc.

Were your passengers satisfied with the food?

Discuss invoice, delivery, packaging, etc.

If you are adding something that is negative, please be as detailed as possible. Did you attempt to rectify the problem? Did you talk with the caterer?

Although criticism can be constructive, please exercise professionalism with all of your remarks whether positive, neutral, or negative.

I appreciate everyone’s input with sharing personal catering experiences. Your well thought out comments can help other corporate flight attendants as well as in-flight caterers who read the message boards.

You don’t have to be a food handler in your General Aviation career to have the need to know about “food safety.” Everyone eats, and everyone has a home kitchen. The Food Safety Starts in the Home Kitchen article, which was written by Jean Dible, is a wake-up call for anyone reading the information. If you only handle food for yourself and your family, it is great information to prevent foodborne illness in your household. If you are a food handler in the General Aviation industry, the information in the article is a first step in awareness of “food safety.” Most passengers and crew do not think about food safety; they just expect it! Live up to their expectations and get food safety trained.

If you have just finished up college, then likely you are facing a boatload of debt in the form of student loan repayments. It is virtually impossible to go to school these days without incurring debt; many students face tens of thousands of dollars in bills upon graduating from college.

Personally, my student loan debt wasn’t that large, but it did seem as if it took years to pay off the debt. I was fortunate: my debt level was low and so were my interest payments, thus a student loan consolidation loan wasn’t necessary for me.

For some grads, student loan debt consolidation not only is helpful, but it makes a ton of sense. Chances are the first job you’ll hold upon graduating will not pay you all that well, so lowering your monthly debt through student loan consolidation is one way to master your debt.

I have heard that some students are saving between 10 and 50 percent on their loans just by consolidating. Yes, you need to look at all of the tax implications of consolidating, but at the very least, this is something everyone should consider — you just don’t need to carry around excessive debt while you seek to build your life. Use your money to purchase a car, a home, and for starting a family if that is the route you want to take in life.

It hasn’t really creeped up on me, but getting a chance to post this information publicly has been a bit of a challenge. Anyway, the NBAA 12th Annual Flight Attendants Conference is just weeks away, to be held in San Diego on June 29 and 30. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina is the venue for this year’s event.

Many corporate flight attendants have found the annual conference to be immensely beneficial toward helping them get a better understanding of the industry, of their careers, and to have a place where they can rub shoulders with their peers, industry experts, and vendors. Seminars and break-out sessions are held throughout the two-day event; please read the agenda to learn more about the events planned.

Many attendees enjoy the Catering Appreciation and Networking Event, which will be held on Friday evening, as it is an important way for caterers to give their thanks for your business.

Several recent messages of note have been posted to the forums. In case you have missed them, I’ll highlight a few of them for you right here:

Canadians Seeking US Employment was added by me to address a question that comes up from time to time: Am I, as a Canadian citizen, eligible to work in the US?

If you haven’t obtained a visa in awhile, the post about French Visas could be of interest to you.

The conversation hasn’t been updated in months, but if you have seen a good movie lately, then why not share it with the community? Midnight Mike is overseeing this thread — learn what movies out there are good and which ones aren’t worth paying the ten dollars to see.

With all of the in-flight catering vendors now listed on the forums, you can find someone to provide the food that your passengers need for your next flight without going to a different section. We’re also encouraging people to list their favorite restaurants which can be a wonderful alternative to traditional in-flight catering. Many cities do not have dedicated caterers serving business aviation, but they do have great restaurants. Your dining experience can be helpful to everyone as they search for good food in faraway places.

I’ve finished moving the in-flight catering information from EZBoard over to our main forums and am glad that this task is now done. A major update to the main forums will eventually take place, but I don’t expect to have that implemented until the fall. Right now, I am waiting for the software provider to work the kinks out of the new board before upgrading.

Today, the forums are now split up into four categories:

The Corporate Flight Attendant Community — for most generalized discussions.

Gourmand — for in-flight catering information, restaurants, and the like.

Employment — where contractors can list their availability and where I post job openings.

Advertising and Promotional — where you can personally advertise something and where I post contest information.

Each category has at least two forums associated with it. When the upgraded forums are in place, you’ll find several sub-forums especially for In-flight Caterers which could be split up for easier navigation.

As always, thank you for your participation. The backbone of any web community are members and visitors — many of you I have known since the community was launched in August 2002, while others are new. Everyone is important to me, so thank you again and again.
